Romanian language is the Eastern-Romance language spoken in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova. Besides the Latin and the Dacian languages it originates from, Romanian language was also influenced by numerous other languages Hungarian, Ukrainian, Greek, Serbian, Bulgarian, Russian, Macedonian, German, and Thracian). The strongest influence on its evolution was the impact of the Old Church Slavonic language thus forming – ever since the Medieval Ages – one language on the territories of Transylvania, Vlach and Moldova, which had various and different denominations, Latin basis and Cyrillic orthography.

Romanian language is a maternal language to around 24 million people, while it is a secondary language to approximately 4 million people, thus occupying the 34th place in the world by the number of speakers. It is an official language in Romania, Moldova, Vojvodina (Serbia), and in the European and Latin Unions respectively. It is regulated by the Romanian Academy, and its orthography is Latin.
