Translator for the Slovak language

Slovak Language is a Western-Slavic Indo-European language. The number of speakers who communicate in this language on daily basis whether it is their maternal language or not, is estimated to about 6 million people. As a group of dialects, the Slovak language singled itself out from the late pre-Slavic language in the 10th century, but it was established as a standard language only at the half of the 19th century. From the 15th to 17th centuries the cultural language used in Slovakia was the Czech language with many Slovak characteristics. The first attempts to introduce the Slovak standard language were recorded in the 18th century, where Calvinists tried to do that in the East, while A. Bernolak tried to do it in the West. However, only Ľudovít Štúr managed in the 40ies of the 19th century to establish the standard language based on the Middle-Slovak dialects. Slovak grammar – “Mluvnica jazyka slovenského” of Martin Hatala from 1864 – significantly contributed to the construction of the standard norms. The first orthographic rulebook was “Pravidlá slovenského pravopisu”, printed in 1931. During the Slovak statehood between 1939 and 1945, many loanwords from the Czech language – which were as numerous as the ones from German and Hungarian languages – were replaced by domestic words.

Slovak language is the official language in the state of Slovakia and some municipalities in the province of Vojvodina (Serbia) and in the European Union. It is also spoken in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, etc. Slovak orthography is Latin enriched with diacritic symbols and diphthongs which signify one phoneme.
